Our Story
How a clean-shaven guy fell down the beard rabbit hole, and ended up writing the whole thing down.
It started with a bad beard
A few years ago, back in 2020, I decided to grow my beard out for the first time. I’d been clean-shaven for as long as I could remember, so this was completely new territory for me.
The first stretch was rough. It itched, it grew in patchy, and I had no idea which of the dozens of products on the shelf were actually worth buying. I grabbed a few on a whim, most of them did nothing, and I nearly shaved the whole thing off more than once.
Then something changed
Somewhere along the way I stopped grabbing whatever looked good on the shelf and started actually paying attention. I read ingredient lists instead of trusting the label. I used products long enough to judge them properly, not just for a day.
I also figured out my own face. I’ve got a round face, so a longer, fuller beard suits me better, and once I leaned into that instead of fighting it, the whole thing got easier.
The more I learned, the more I noticed the same problem everywhere I looked. Most beard advice online was thin, recycled, or quietly trying to sell me something.
So I started writing it down
That gap is the reason this blog exists. I wanted one place that gave straight answers, the kind I wish I’d had when I started. What each product actually does. Which styles suit which face shapes. How to fix the everyday stuff like itch and beardruff, without buying ten things you don’t need.
From first beard to this blog
Clean-shaven one month, bearded the next, and completely in over my head about how to look after it.
I started reading ingredient lists, testing products properly, and learning what actually worked instead of just guessing.
Round face, so I leaned into a longer, fuller beard. I’m still always tweaking it, and honestly that’s half the fun.
I turned everything I’d picked up into this blog, so the next guy doesn’t have to start from zero the way I did.
Still growing it, still testing things, still keeping it honest. The beard and the blog are both works in progress.
The part that hasn’t changed
The mission has been the same since day one. Help guys take care of their beards with confidence, and keep it honest. No fluff, no paid-for praise, just advice that respects your time and your money.
Everything here is written by a real person who actually uses this stuff, has an opinion, and will happily tell you when a popular product isn’t worth your money. That’s the whole point.
Ready for the practical side?
The blog is where all the how-to lives, and the about page covers how I actually pick and review products.
